Career Objective

I am committed to advancing research in Medicinal Chemistry, Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, and Public Health, fields in which I have completed several undergraduate projects. My primary focus is on discovering innovative drug candidates and unraveling disease mechanisms to address critical healthcare challenges. I am especially interested in developing targeted therapies to combat antimicrobial resistance, combining my knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences to contribute to public health improvements. By integrating advanced chemistry with molecular sciences, my objective is to contribute to research initiatives that not only advance scientific understanding but also provide practical solutions to global health concerns.

Research Experiences

Title: Drug and alcohol use and associated psychosocial, and health factors among bus drivers in Bangladesh.

Outcomes: We have identified, other than near-ubiquitous tobacco use (used by 93% of drivers), the most commonly used drug was marijuana (75%). This study concentrates the drug addiction among 503 motor workers in Dhaka, revealing an inverse relationship between education and addiction. A wide range of other substances were also used, including alcohol products, vang, yaba, injection drugs, and glue. Many participants reported using multiple drugs simultaneously, and spending significant proportions of their income on use.

Project Supervisor: Dr Md Shafayat Hossain (School of Biosciences, University of Birmingham, UK) and collaborated with Prof. Gareth J Hollands (EPPI Centre, UCL Social Research Institute, University College London.)

Contribution: Project design, data collection, analysis, and writing.

Status: Under Review (BMC Public Health, IF: 3.5)

Title: Silencing Bullies, Amplifying Voices: Transforming University Culture

Outcomes: A research project addressing significant public health concern with detrimental consequences, particularly in university settings.  #

Contribution: Project design, data collection, analysis, and writing.

Status: Under Review- International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction; IF: 3.2)

Title: Unveiling Patterns and Sociodemographic Characteristics of Drug Trafficking in Dhaka City, Bangladesh.

Outcomes: Analyzed drug trafficking patterns in Dhaka city, highlighting the involvement of vulnerable groups, including minors, driven by socio-economic challenges. The study identified key trafficking routes and demographic trends, offering insights to inform targeted policies. These findings can help design more effective interventions to combat drug trafficking and support at-risk populations.

Contribution: Project design, data collection, analysis, and writing.

Status: Under review- International Journal of Drug Policy; IF: 4.4
